In this fireside chat with LDV Capital General Partner Evan Nisselson, Clement Farabet, VP of Research at DeepMind, shared his views on the positives, negatives, and lessons learned from building artificial intelligence projects while at university, to founding a startup that successfully exited and at large Fortune 100 corporations.

They discussed $100 laptops, 4 big problems of the VR industry, 250 lasers in our modern-day smartphone devices, next-generation portable neural diagnostic and therapeutic systems, and so much more!

On March 23 at our 8th Annual LDV Vision Summit, Evan Nisselson, General Partner at LDV, will speak with Dr. Jepsen, the founder and CEO of OpenWater – a startup working on novel imaging systems that leverage lasers as well as optoelectronic & holographic systems to see deep into the body and brain with the detail of a high-resolution 3D camera. They will discuss how to make moonshots into moon landings & other stories in deep tech entrepreneurship.

In 2019, we had the pleasure of hosting a fireside chat between Thomas Reardon, a computational neuroscientist, co-founder and CEO of CTRL-labs, and Evan Nisselson, Founder and General Partner at LDV Capital.

Manohar Paluri is the Manager of the Computer Vision Group at Facebook. At our LDV Vision Summit 2017, he spoke about how the Applied Machine Learning organization at Facebook is working to understand the billions of media content uploaded every day to Facebook in order to improve people’s experiences on the platform and connect them to the right content.
Divyaa Ravichandran was a finalist in the 2016 Entrepreneurial Computer Vision Challenge (ECVC) at the LDV Vision Summit. Her project, “Love & Vision” used siamese neural networks to predict kinship between pairs of facial images. It was a major success with the judges and the audience.
Ira Kemelmacher-Shlizerman is a professor at the University of Washington and a Research Scientist at Facebook. At our LDV Vision Summit 2017, she spoke about how and why she evolved her research into a company called Dreambit which she then sold to Facebook.
