At last year’s LDV Vision Summit, Jessi Hempel (Senior Editor at LinkedIn) spoke with Hadley Harris (Founding General Partner at Eniac Ventures), Laura Smoliar (Founding Partner at Berkeley Catalyst Fund), and Zavain Dar (Partner at Lux Capital) about trends in visual technologies across all business sectors and society.

Evan Nisselson, General Partner at LDV Capital, asked Nabeel Hyatt, a former founder, CEO, and now General Partner at Spark Capital, some questions about his experience investing in visual tech.

Evan Nisselson interviewed Matt Turck, a Partner of FirstMark Capital. He invests across a broad range of early-stage enterprise and consumer startups. Prior to FirstMark, he was a Managing Director at Bloomberg Ventures, the investment and incubation arm of Bloomberg LP, which he helped start. Previously, Matt was the co-founder of TripleHop Technologies, a venture-backed enterprise search software startup that was acquired by Oracle.

Zavain invests in companies that are using machine learning and AI to augment or replace physical-world functions including biology, language, manufacturing, and analysis. He looks for entrepreneurs that can use software and data to hone a philosophical position on where the world is, and how to direct it for the better.

Hadley has done a little bit of everything on the path to co-founding Eniac, starting out as an engineer at Pegasystems, a product manager at Microsoft, and a strategist at Samsung. He ran a few aspects of the business across product and marketing at Vlingo prior to its sale to Nuance. He also served as CMO at Thumb until it was acquired.
